With an acceleration of desolate big box retail spaces, JPT Architects designed the renovation of an old 16,000 SF department store in Philipsburg, PA into a well-integrated and highly efficient family medicine and specialty services Medical Office Building. An interior fit-out was approximately 13,000 SF, leaving a remaining 3,000+ SF as shell space for the future development of medical practices. Alterations and renovations to the ground floor space will accommodate a new entrance, lab and blood draw suite, x-ray area, primary care rooms and rotating specialty exam spaces. A front façade and sidewalk canopy on the building have been redesigned to provide a new “brand” image with signage for Mount Nittany Health. The building houses a combination of hospital-based outpatient services and physician practice suites.
Additional Medical Office Building specialty services include Mount Nittany Physician Group, urology, cardiology, nephrology and rheumatology services, outpatient lab services, and room for future additions of infection disease, endocrinology and radiology services. Twelve family medicine exam rooms are spread across the facility to ensure that community patients of all ages will benefit from this new Philipsburg area healthcare option.
As family medicine is in the limelight of efficient healthcare delivery models to satisfy diverse patient needs in one place, Mount Nittany Health is also trying to provide specialty services to local resident of this community. In small rural communities, it is frequently difficult to have access to very specific or specialty care medical services in the convenience of your backyard. Identifying patient barriers, such as driving long distances for specialty health services, allows Mount Nittany Health to determine long-term strategies to improve care.
